They advertise free breakfast, but there was nothing available, not even coffee or drinks. The staff were rude and unprofessional. After charging me the full rate, they told me there was no hot water, which matters a lot in cold Minnesota. The rooms and amenities are very old. This isn’t a four-star hotel, maybe two stars, or three if you’re being generous. Take it off your list if you want to avoid a disappointing stay.

I was there last weekend with my wife and daughter. It wasn’t a bad stay overall, though checking in meant calling “0” because the front area was locked. There were a few holes in the room walls, and the air conditioners didn’t work. The inside of our door had no chain lock. The card scanner at the building’s side entrance didn’t work, and that door wasn’t locked either. You could just pull it open.

The staff were polite and willing to help, but I won’t stay there again. The beds were much too high. Getting onto them felt like an acrobat’s job, and there was no way to sit comfortably on the edge. My husband is 6'1" and couldn’t get on easily. The laminate floors looked nice, but they were cold underfoot and slippery. Breakfast was free, but only available until 9 a.m. Never again!

A decent place for the price, with clean carpets and very laid-back staff. We could just walk in without calling ahead and pay cash. The deposit was $60, which was better than the $100 most places ask for. It’s probably my favorite place in Cottage Grove. Nothing’s perfect, though. The room could use better coffee supplies, but at least there was a small coffee maker, microwave, and mini fridge. No complaints overall.
