We were traveling with elderly people who needed to bathe, but the hotel made us wait for hot water and put our day behind. When we called, they said someone would come in about two hours to turn on the boiler. Turn it on, not fix it. We shouldn’t have to complain just to get hot water. Breakfast only runs from 5:00 AM to 8:45 AM, so if you get up at a normal time like 7:00, you can end up waiting for water and missing it. It feels like they save money on both hot water and food while guests pay for it. The rooms are poorly lit, dark and uncomfortable, and the service gave us no urgency, explanation, or respect, just excuses and indifference. It feels like they cut every corner, even when it makes the stay uncomfortable. I usually don’t leave negative reviews, but this place earned one. If you want to feel like your comfort doesn’t matter, Malana Hotel Suites in Cotulla, TX is the place. Avoid Malana Hotel and Suites unless freezing showers, missed meals, and being ignored sound fine to you.

The staff are consistently friendly and helpful, and guests get breakfast and dinner at no extra cost. Rooms are always neat and clean. I’d expect shower heads like these in an upscale hotel. They actually get you wet, with a good spray pattern. I’d consider putting one in my own house.

My family came from out of state, and we were pleased with the whole stay. We liked the breakfast, the courteous staff, and the location. We’ll definitely stay again when we get the chance.

I’ve stayed at a lot of budget hotels while working as an aerial photographer over the past five years, and this is the best one we’ve been put up in. The atmosphere was good, the people were nice, the food was good, and the hospitality was great. I’d absolutely come back.

It’s quiet, and breakfast and dinner are included, along with two complimentary beers per room. I love the longhorns next door!
