Westward Motel

I wasn't staying here, but I stopped by to visit a friend who was. We were outside smoking when a woman came out and very rudely told us visitors were never allowed. I left peacefully, then posted a review. Later I learned she'd looked me up on Facebook and asked my friend if he knew me. After only a few hours, he was kicked out without a refund. The comment was, "Drug addicts are not allowed on this property anymore." So they used to allow them? I don't hang out with drug addicts. I work for the city of Steamboat Springs. She can judge people however she wants to excuse being rude, but treating people this way isn't good for business. Since she's been looking at my Facebook, she can see we've been friends for over three years. Don't pretend you know people to justify throwing him and his three kids out for no reason. They met at the bus station? He didn't even arrive by bus, and Greyhound buses don't even come in the morning. This is a legitimate review, and she's making excuses. Calling me a drug addict? I'd bet I'm cleaner than she is.

We live in town, and stopped at Westward Hotel to meet our friends from out of town, their SO, and their children. The owner was unnecessarily rude and ordered us to leave, so we got in the car and went. After that visit, I'll never stay there and would tell others to choose another motel. The manager seems judgmental, makes up stories, and throws out accusations. My friend was kicked out without a refund for no reason, apparently because my husband left a one-star rating after our encounter. The manager then stalked my husband on Facebook and kept making things up to save her business. You could be kicked out for no reason, without a refund. There are plenty of less sketchy places in Craig, so avoid Westward Hotel.

I was heading to Steamboat for mountain biking and planned to stay here, but as I walked to the office to ask about rates, a group in the parking lot started asking me for money. It looked like an obvious meth deal was going on, and I felt uneasy, so I drove the rest of the way to the mountains. I probably would've woken up missing a kidney. Avoid Craig at all costs!

The family who runs this place is extremely friendly. We got a two-bed room at a great price, slept well, and found it comfortable. I'll stop back next year when I'm in the area.
