La Quinta Inn & Suites Birmingham Hoover

The dog loved the fenced courtyard, and there were doggie bags by a grassy patch in the parking lot. The free breakfast had a good spread: eggs, sausage, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, waffles, cereal, and more. This was a great find on our way to Florida. We needed an affordable pet-friendly place around Birmingham, and several other hotels in the same price range had unappealing issues, including lots of bug photos. This one was better than decent: newer construction, clean, comfortable, and felt safe, with cameras inside and in the parking lot. A Hoover police officer even patrolled the lot. The rooms were stylish and spacious. Though technically a 2-star hotel, it felt like a 3-star stay at a 2-star price, at least $50 less than other options. We were glad to find a Waffle House just a few minutes away, along with other restaurants like the popular local Rag Time Cafe. A Shell station right next door made filling up easy. We'd recommend it and absolutely stay again.

When my son left his gaming device and games behind, we were already 500 miles away before we noticed. After my own attempts to recover them didn't work, the manager offered to bring them to us through UPS. I'm so grateful, and it reminded me there are still good people around. My family and I have picked this place for many years, for its location, rooms, and staff, and we've never had problems. We were traveling for a family engagement and holiday vacation, and it felt good to know everyone was safe. If you need somewhere clean, safe, and friendly, this is it. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful stay!

The only thing I liked was the location. Our room was disgusting: the tub hadn't been cleaned, and there was hair and gnats coming out of the drain. I booked a double queen with a pullout sofa, but there wasn't a sofa bed. The fridge leaked overnight, soaking our shoes and everything we had in it. The toilet clogged every time we used it. It was just awful, the worst $300 I've spent on a room.

We stopped here during a road trip with our two young kids. The hotel felt safe, was clean, and had a great breakfast. The front desk staff were very kind, and the texting option came in handy. All of that at a very fair price. I highly recommend it.
