My family and I were in Cripple Creek for the ice festival and wanted to eat at Dynamite Dicks. I had my six-month-old with me and understand that nobody under 21 can enter the casino. But the only way to reach the restaurant on the second floor is through the casino. As we opened the door, a manager standing there immediately blocked us. I explained we were just going to the restaurant and offered to let her escort us if that made her more comfortable. She refused, saying the restaurant doesn’t allow children or anyone under 21, even though we’d seen children there before our baby was born. It was very cold and windy, and the layers weren’t helping. I even asked if we could step inside briefly to warm the baby before walking back to the car, but she said no. It was really upsetting when all we wanted was to eat before driving the two hours home.

McGills is right in the middle of everything, and the casino downstairs is really convenient. Even so, the rooms stayed quiet at night. We’ve stayed here a couple of times and always had a great time. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff are friendly, and check-in is quick and easy. It’s an easy place to enjoy Cripple Creek, and we’ll definitely stay again.

We stopped in for lunch, not a hotel stay. My friend found the hamburger pretty flavorless, and my bison dip had no flavor at all. My other two friends thought their dishes were pretty good. The service and atmosphere were great, but I’m not sure I’d go back for the price. Parking is on the street and finding a space was a little difficult.

The front desk team really stood out. They were professional, welcoming, and sincerely friendly, and everyone I met was kind and helpful. The whole hotel was impressively clean, too. I slept especially well on the beds, easily the firmest and most supportive I’ve found in a hotel, which made a big difference after long days out. McGills in Cripple Creek felt comfortable and very well run. I’ll absolutely stay here again.
