Holiday Inn Express & Suites Dahlonega - University Area By Ihg

The location was perfect for walking around downtown Dahlonega's shops and restaurants. Our kids loved having a night swim in the pool before bed, and playing games at the table in our room. I'd suggest booking a room with the pullout sofa for the extra space. The beds were firm, the pillows comfy, and the room was clean. Service was friendly, and breakfast was quite good, with a healthy option for me and pancakes and sausage for the kids. I'd book here again.

We got great value booking with points, and free breakfast had everything we needed before heading out. We arrived a little early, left the car in the garage, and had time to walk around the square before check-in. The location couldn't have worked better for our college visits: Dahlonega's square is walkable, cute, festive, and beautiful at Christmas. It was also easy to drive from there to the campuses and take in the mountain views. Highly recommend for visiting Dahlonega or exploring North Georgia.

Abby made our late-night arrival easy, and then we saw her again at breakfast in the morning, still checking that guests had what they needed and keeping the dining area friendly. She was welcoming, efficient, and professional even late at night, and her attentiveness carried through both shifts. The continental breakfast was simple, fresh, satisfying, and well stocked. The rooms were clean, cozy, and thoughtfully arranged, so settling in felt easy. From arrival to departure, the stay was smooth and comfortable, with consistently good hospitality. I'd gladly recommend this place and return.

The hotel is right in the heart of Dahlonega, within walking distance of everything. Rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the garage gives easy building access with handy valet-style luggage carts. Still, several things made our Monday-to-Thursday stay frustrating. One elevator was out of service the whole time, causing frequent delays. Our room phone didn't work, so when the smoke alarm went off at 1:30 a.m. and woke us, we couldn't contact the front desk. There was no bottled water, and staff couldn't say when it would be restocked. A lobby water station would've helped. Breakfast was very disappointing. Cinnamon rolls and cream cheese never showed up, eggs were rarely stocked, the pancake machine stayed out of order, and coffee, tea, and hot chocolate kept running out. The area seemed understaffed, with one employee managing everything while two front desk clerks chatted nearby. The location is great and the hotel has potential, but management needs to address staffing, maintenance, and basic guest amenities.
