Luxury Downtown Dallas Stay by Amyfinehouse

The kitchen was filthy when we arrived, with dirty plates and utensils stored in the cabinets as if they were clean. There were roaches on the walls and floors, including in the bedrooms. I documented it all with photos and videos. This was an unsanitary, unsafe space, not fit for guests. I told the host right away, but they only offered to clean and inspect while we were out. That should have happened before our arrival. The stay cost nearly $700, yet Airbnb offered only a 30% refund. This wasn’t a minor inconvenience, it was a health and sanitation problem. I’ve attached the photos and videos so future guests can see what to expect. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere, and I’m deeply disappointed by Airbnb’s lack of accountability and meaningful resolution.

It’s right downtown, so you can walk to pretty much everything, though there aren’t many restaurants nearby. The apartment was comfortable and roomy, with a well-equipped kitchen, including utensils, a microwave, and a coffee machine. One room also had a large closet, and there was a washer and dryer. It’s a great place to stay.

We left before we’d even been there 12 hours and went somewhere else. When we asked for a refund, the host said none was possible and claimed they could have fixed the problems. But I had already messaged for help getting into the building and got no reply. The apartment wasn’t as advertised or luxurious. The area felt poor, with more homelessness, and just getting into the building was difficult. Both the room and building smelled of toxic chemicals. People shouted in the hallway all night, and our room was next to the lift. The nearby multistory car park had unfriendly staff, and they kept car keys in an open, unlocked drawer where anyone could take them. This booking was under my husband’s name, and the messages were too. In response to the owner, several previous guests have raised the same concerns about safety and the smell. Your responses seem automated. Being near an authority’s office doesn’t make the place safe at night. For comparison, we had a lovely two-night stay at the Fairmont Dallas, within walking distance of good restaurants, and felt much safer and able to relax.

The apartment was spacious, very clean, and nicely furnished, with a good kitchen. It’s downtown and convenient for reaching nicer areas, but the building itself is in a run-down, sketchy area with lots of people who made me uncomfortable. Getting in felt like entering a jail, with metal bars over the keypad. This is nowhere near luxury or a four-star hotel. The worst part was a strong chemical smell in the apartment. It gave me headaches, and even two days after our two-night stay, my clothes still smelled. I washed them twice and only got rid of the odor on the second wash, with a lot of baking soda. I don’t know what will happen with my shoes and luggage. We booked through Airbnb and complained but didn’t get a response. We got a partial refund, but it doesn’t make up for the ruined stay, clothes, and bags. I’d never return. I also question the five-star reviews, because I can’t see a reasonable person rating this above two stars, so they must be fake. In reply to the owner, I stayed at your property, though the reservation was under my friend’s name. It was definitely your place, listed as Amyfinehouse when I found it. Stay away.
