Best Western Plus Marina Shores Hotel

The biggest highlight of the breakfast area was the coffee machine. Its cappuccinos and lattes were incredible. Breakfast is free, with waffles and a few hot items. I don't eat those, though I did grab a couple of treats on my cheat day. The hotel is pet friendly, with a pet fee, and parking also costs extra per night. There are four EV chargers in the lower lot, two Tesla and two ChargePoint. Tesla drivers should bring an adapter. Charging is free, but guests get the key from the front desk and can keep it for their stay, so someone else may be waiting while the key is with them. I eventually got to use one, but the charger broke or a fuse blew, so I gave up and used my year of free Supercharging on the way out of town. Parking by the main entrance can be cramped, especially up top, so the lower level has more space. There are bell carts and an elevator. The pool is very small, with no jacuzzi. I wouldn't choose a room near it. Ask nicely for an upper floor facing the ocean. My second floor room had a window but no balcony, though rooms on higher levels have balconies. I think there may only be one level above the second. The PCH traffic outside is busy, but I didn't hear much road noise, partly because I sleep with a sound machine. Walking my dog, I crossed the street to the quieter area near the doheny Beach entrance. There's also a nice park across the street, up the hill by the Laguna cliffs hotel. My room was clean with dated furniture, a large fridge, and a big TV. I found a good weekend rate on a third party site. Rebecca was great at check-in and waived my parking fee in exchange for my YouTube review. I wouldn't expect that for everyone. The other staff were helpful and friendly, and they gave me an extra hour before checkout.

The hot breakfast is a real plus, especially the waffle maker, and the staff are so friendly. The location near Dana Point Harbor is perfect, and staying here feels like being at home. I've returned several times because the rooms are clean and the beds comfortable. We had a King suite with a balcony facing Pacific Coast Highway. As a light sleeper, I found the cars a bit loud at night, but a white noise app or earplugs fixed that. We'll be back!

Lori at the front desk was an absolute angel, and the customer service made this a wonderful stay. The beds were super comfortable, and the TVs had Netflix and streaming. Our room also had a jacuzzi bathtub. It's a lovely little beach town, with a great price for the experience. We'll definitely make this our weekend getaway spot again.

We had a six night reservation and were treated terribly. Maya repeatedly harassed us, overcharged us, and charged for nights we didn't stay. While I was paying, she asked me to step aside to help the next person, then charged nearly $100 more than the amount on the receipt. She said she'd correct it, but didn't. When I asked for a signed receipt showing what I paid, she refused. On Thanksgiving night, Jake called our room at 10:55 PM and said we needed to sign a paper. The next day, I went to the front desk to sign the same paper I'd already signed. I told the male manager Jake had called rudely the night before, and he said he'd handle it. That evening Jake deactivated our room keys. Maya called us repeatedly on Saturday. We got back to our room close to midnight, and maintenance knocked and told us to call the front desk. Maya then told us to pack up and leave immediately. We had nowhere to go and had to leave with all our things while she laughed and wished us a good night. We'd been quiet and clean, and I've never been treated so badly at a hotel.
