I won't be going back to Caesar's in Danville, Va. I'll make the four-hour drive to Cherokee instead. The casino smoke was overwhelming for a nonsmoker, and there was no nonsmoking section. No one came around to ask if we needed anything or bring water. When we asked the host, she said they don't offer that. I've never been to another casino that didn't. The rooms were remarkable, but the food options could be better. We ate at Ramseys, and the food wasn't worth the high price. You pay for each item, and it adds up. The slot machines didn't pay out, either.

I was glad when a casino concept came to Danville, given my family's long history there. Many of us moved from Danville to Washington, D.C. in the early 1950s, and we still own several acres in the mountains of Dry Fork, Virginia. But my experiences at Caesars Virginia have left me disappointed. On an early visit, when the casino was still in its temporary tent facility, I felt a staff member treated me disrespectfully. We disagreed, and instead of trying to resolve it professionally, I was told I couldn't return that evening. My family and I left. Years later I came back, thinking enough time had passed, only to learn I was permanently banned over that one disagreement. I wasn't given a chance to explain or discuss it. What bothered me most was the lack of respect and hospitality. A lifetime ban over a single incident feels heavy-handed and petty for a major business hoping to represent Danville's tourism and entertainment future. The city deserves businesses that treat people fairly and with dignity, especially those whose families have deep roots in the region. I'll keep taking my business to MGM National Harbor, where I've always been treated professionally. I sincerely hope Caesars leadership rethinks how it handles situations like this. Danville deserves better from a major destination venue.
On March 7, my friend and I showed the same IDs we've used to enter during several visits over the past months. I was allowed in, but my friend was turned away. The security guard and manager said his photo didn't match his face, even though it was taken in 2021. He showed them a credit card with his full name, but they still refused him. It felt like a sign-in disguise. We always lose money here and have never won, so we leave empty-handed every time. This was a clear sign to stop wasting money at this casino. Thanks for that. We won't be back.
The bathrooms were clean, really nice, and easy to find. Staff were friendly, helpful, and always available, which made the getaway pleasant overall, though expensive. The casino was okay, but ashtrays were full of cigarette butts and I could still smell smoke despite the good airflow. Gordon Ramseys restaurant was disappointing: the staff were amazing, but the food arrived cold, seemed overpriced, and came in limited choices with slow service.
The food was average at best. I tried three different eateries and wasn't impressed by any of them. The lobby has lovely gathering areas, but no seats for elderly or disabled people to rest unless they're on the casino. The room itself was exceptionally nice, very clean, and furnished with all new things. The bathroom had a deep tub, a roomy shower, and amenities. Bring your own pillow for sleeping. The ones provided were so overstuffed that they were almost impossible to use, so I ended up rolling up a towel.
