Red Carpet Inn & Suites

We were stranded in Virginia after midnight, following a seven-hour drive, because the hotel wouldn't let us check in. We'd called around 9:30 to make sure a late arrival was okay, and they told us it was fine and to drive safely. But when we got there around 12:30, they said our reservation wasn't valid because none of us was 21. We were 19 at the time and only planned to sleep and leave in the morning. The person at the desk said, "There was a lot of bad kids around here and they did a lot of damage, its against the law so if I let you stay they'd shut us down". I couldn't find any such law. We were on a road trip to see the now closed tank museum. My old review seems to have disappeared, so I'm back to let people know. 10/10 service, I'd drive the half mile to a different hotel again.

The bed linens weren't fresh, there was a thumping noise in the wall, and I found two dead roaches in the bathroom. This room needs a deep clean and updating. Bring Lysol and a can of Raid, or a match.

The staff were incredibly accommodating, and everything was very clean. The rooms were remodeled in 2020 and feel new, though there are a few unfinished spots. They even have bedbug protective covers on the beds. For the price, this is the best and safest hotel around. To me it's comparable to an $85-a-night place and much better than other hotels in the $55-$75 range. The bad reviews are old, from before the current company owned it, so check their dates. I'll probably stay here often from now on. Thank you!

I checked out Saturday instead of Sunday because the room was awful. The curtains smelled dusty and filthy, the walls were dirty, and the carpet was so bad it looked like it had pet hair. The tub and toilet were broken, and sitting on the toilet the wrong way felt like I might end up in the next room. The fridge was broken too, and there was no iron, ironing board, or hair dryer. At 3 a.m., there was a shootout outside my room.
