Dayton Motel

The owner was shady and rude, and claims about discounts and refunds didn’t add up. He said booking more than one night gets a discount and means you can’t get a refund for leaving early, but the discount was only one dollar per night. He also owns the Blue Mountain Motel, which is in just as bad shape. The Expedia listing was inaccurate about amenities, and I saw no new improvements. He may be the new owner, but nothing has changed. I also believe employees are being used to leave fake five-star reviews. The place felt extremely unsafe. There were no smoke detectors in the rooms, the microwave had apparently caught fire before, and the door lock either stuck locked or wouldn’t lock at all. The A/C was broken and missing its cover. The floor had soft spots from water damage, and there was black mold in the bathroom. The front window had no lock and was painted shut.

We checked out less than an hour after arriving. Check-in was okay and the staff were helpful, but the rooms were extremely unsanitary. The kitchen sink was full of food left by the previous guest, there was used bar soap on the shower floor, and the microwave had crumbs inside. The carpet and sheets were stained, and a rat trap between the stove and fridge looked like it had been there for years. There seemed to be full-time residents in other rooms, with people walking and talking outside. I don’t recommend it. The place needs to be inspected by professionals.

We’re cleaning this motel up and changing things around. It’s actually a very nice place, and the new owner is wonderful.
