Holiday Inn Express & Suites Dayton Southwest by IHG

Amy on the day shift and John working nights made a great stay even better. Amy handled a difficult check-in with patience and care, sorting things out without making me feel rushed or like a bother. Her calm, professional manner and knowledge turned a stressful start around. John was just as welcoming and attentive later, making sure I had what I needed. I travel often, and since Ohio I haven’t had service like this. They’re both a credit to the hotel and Holiday Inn. I’ll be back and would recommend this location. Thanks for a really good stay.

The room was the rough part. There were marks or bits of something across the ceiling, and I couldn’t tell whether they were scuffs from furniture, dead bugs, or possibly boogers. The carpet, walls, doors, and blind all had stains, and there was a water cup under the heater/air conditioner. I should’ve taken pictures, but didn’t want to get a closer look. At least it was quiet and the bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly, the lobby had Valentine’s Day decorations, and breakfast was delicious. Those fluffy biscuits were great with sausage gravy.

John checked me in and was such a delight. He went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable and didn’t have any problems. The room was clean and excellent, though other guests made it a little noisy. Breakfast was great, as always.

The check-in was smooth, and the gentleman at the desk was very nice and recognized my IHG status. I’ve stayed here several times over the past four years and had similarly good, customer-focused interactions. This review is about my Oct 25-26 stay in Room 215. When I woke up, I saw a bug crawling on the bed and coming out from the duvet cover. It looked strikingly like a fed adult bed bug. I took pictures to show the front desk at checkout. The young woman there was concerned and got another staff member to help. They said they’d take the room out of circulation, call an exterminator, and have a manager call me. They also asked whether I wanted my receipt printed or emailed. I travel a lot and understand things like this can happen, though it still leaves you uneasy. I tried contacting the hotel twice after I got home and was assured the General Manager would get in touch. I also tried to reach management at checkout and called twice since, but have had ZERO response. That refusal to address it concerns me and leaves me wondering what else might be wrong with the facility.
