Hyatt Place Daytona Beach - Oceanfront

The staff were friendly and attentive, and breakfast was a nice extra. We also appreciated the relaxed but stylish feel of the place, with a spacious lobby and a 24-hour e-room with computers that came in handy for quick work tasks. Our room was clean, modern, and roomy, with comfortable beds and plenty of amenities. The oceanfront view made the stay feel like a real getaway. We loved waking up to the sound of waves and having coffee on the balcony. The location is hard to beat, right on the beach with beautiful Atlantic views, and only minutes from Daytona International Speedway and local attractions. We saw dolphins from our patio every day, which was amazing. The ocean view and the sound of waves from the room made the stay for us. Raccine welcomed us, confirmed we’d have an ocean front view, and asked if we needed anything after checking us in. Althea made sure the room was clean, got us extra towels each day, and checked that we were happy with the room. Everyone on staff was friendly. We did lose water during our stay, but the staff acted quickly to fix it. They told me they’d keep making improvements to the property as needed. The rooms and location work for a basic beach stay if you’re not looking for luxury or premium amenities. As a Hyatt Globalist, though, I found the service and luxury standards lacking. Staff barely interacted with guests, with no greetings or good mornings. The breakfast buffet was embarrassing compared with higher-end Hyatts. It was limited to things like scrambled eggs, sausage, breakfast potatoes, toast, yogurt, fruit, and granola. The dining area overlooks a parking lot leading to the beach, and sand gets tracked everywhere. In the room, shower pressure was practically nonexistent and the AC didn’t cool well, so it always felt damp and clammy. Fine for convenience, not luxury.

The pool area was just as neglected. No one came by to collect dirty towels or straighten the beds, and in the morning everything was still scattered and dirty, like the day before. It was a horrible stay, and I’ll never return. At check-in, the supervisor Giovanni had a terrible attitude and showed no empathy. The hotel felt extremely run down. When I opened the room door, it smelled damp. The carpets were stained, the bathroom door lock didn’t work, the outlets by the bed had no power, and the radio was broken. The balcony was so grimy I couldn’t even lean on the railing.
