The Thunder Cove Hotel

The people running the place were very, very nice, and we slept great in the quiet location off the strip. Our room was clean with firm beds, a microwave, and a larger fridge and freezer. Breakfast was just small muffins and coffee. It was under 70.00 dollars for a weekend stay in Deadwood.

The owners are amazingly sweet. My husband and I were in town for a concert at the DMG and realized we didn't have cash for the trolley. They didn't have an ATM, and we thought we might find change in our vehicle, but the owner came out with $2 so we wouldn't miss the concert. The rooms were clean and very well kept, and we were pleased with the whole stay. Thank you for the hospitality. We WILL be back!

We’ve stayed here plenty of times because we love the location, and the hotel is comfortable even if it feels dated. The staff are nice, too. But the pet fee has become a dealbreaker: it’s $20 per pet, per night, and we’ve paid as much as $160 for our dogs. One room also smelled bad enough that we had to move. If they’re charging that much for pets, I’d expect the rooms to reflect it. We do like staying here, but we’ll choose somewhere else because of the fee.

The room was huge and really nice, the best I’ve ever had at a motel like this. My only complaint is the $20 nightly dog charge, which isn’t refundable. The last place charged $50, but that fee was refundable. Neither stay involved any damage from the dog. V
