The rooms were spacious and spotless, and for what we paid, I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a bit of a walk from Main St, though the $2 trolley makes getting there easy. The bartender was fun to chat with, and the front desk handled a difficult, rude customer professionally while I was checking in. Everyone was really helpful and kind.
Breakfast was decent the first morning, but the next day there was hardly anything left and no coffee. The room itself was roomy, clean, and comfortable. The hotel sits a little outside central Deadwood, with the local trolley stopping nearby for $2 a ride.
The staff were lovely, and we slept well on comfortable beds in a clean room. Breakfast was just okay. The rooms are starting to feel worn, and the furniture in the breakfast area is pretty beat up. We also thought the pool opening at 10 a.m. was late for anyone hoping to swim before breakfast.
We could hear the neighbors through the walls, which was a letdown after long days of sightseeing. Breakfast ran out of both food and coffee, too, though we found a really nice local coffee place called Lou Lou's. The hotel was in a good spot, with a casino, mini golf, and an arcade. Our room was clean and fairly up to date.
The room was very clean, and the staff stayed friendly, but there were quite a few hassles. We arrived around 5 p.m. and our room still wasn't ready because the dryer was down and they were short staffed. They offered a free drink or mini golf while we waited. Since the dryer remained out, we got only two bath towels for our two-night stay, and there weren't any pool towels. The pool and hot tub need updating, and the first-floor ice machine and soda machine didn't work. One evening I tried to order from the menu posted at the bar, but the bartender said they weren't serving food and pointed me to pizza delivery.
