I had a restful two days and would definitely come back. Thanks, Baymont in Decatur! The hotel was clean and quiet, away from the main highway. The front desk lady was kind and helpful, and the cleaning staff were efficient and very nice. The bed was super comfortable, as were the pillows. I've had neck surgery and am picky about pillows, usually bringing my own, so that stood out.

I cancelled my final week-long stay and asked for a printout showing I owed nothing. The desk woman had told me to come by the next morning to sort out any issues, but when I waited a few minutes and she came around the corner, she was irate, raised her hand and told me to be quiet and get out. I found another place with polite staff. Later that night, the hotel texted me, starting with “you lie for everything,” and it got no nicer. Maybe they don't treat all customers this way, but I hope Wyndham can find staff better suited to the job. The trouble began with supplies: housekeeping didn't refill coffee, towels, or shampoo and conditioner in my room, so I kept having to ask. My room key also kept losing its activation. Then I was double charged $100 for the security deposit. The woman became furious and blamed a scam or the bank, with no interest in hearing that I'd been charged twice and no apology. She called my cellphone on my day off while I was out, said I “had” to come talk to her when I got back, and deactivated my key. She raised her voice and said what I was experiencing hadn't happened. The correct charges eventually showed up on my account, but not thanks to the desk staff.

I've stayed in Manhattan and five-star hotels, and while they may have better amenities, they weren't as clean as the three rooms I've had here over the last four weeks. I've been coming for work in blocks of five days, four nights at a time, since I live only three hours away. This is probably one of the cleanest hotels I've stayed in. I haven't seen a single fly, gnat, or other bug. The office staff have been professional and respectful throughout. The husband and wife who run the place are trying to make it a hotel people want to stay at, and I think they're doing very well. They're strict within reason, which I appreciate as a customer. My advice is to be respectful, especially at check-in. I hope others have the same experience.

The room deposit came back to my card within a day, and the room key worked well, which I've had trouble with elsewhere. The area felt a bit isolated despite being near other businesses, but that actually made it seem safer. There wasn't much parking lot traffic, so no strange people hanging around. For the price, the stay was decent. The front desk attendant was very nice, and check-in was quick. The room was clean enough and quiet most of the night, except for people slamming doors after midnight. The king bed was hard as a rock, the plentiful pillows were just as uncomfortable, and the sheets smelled off, perhaps not fresh or washed with cheap detergent. I tossed and turned and woke with head and back pain. The AC didn't cool well, so the room stayed a bit humid. The tub handle didn't work, which spoiled my plan to soak, so I had to take a quick shower instead. I was disappointed with breakfast at 7 a.m. Milk was in an open container rather than sealed cartons, there was no juice, and the choices were cold cereal, bagels, one dry biscuit, and greasy-looking gravy. All the hot pans were empty. I don't eat bread or cereal, so I left without anything. There wasn't anyone at the front desk to ask, and no bell to get their attention. I needed a place in an emergency and it did the job, but I'm not sure I'd stay again unless I brought my own pillows. It wasn't the worst place I've stayed, though.

I felt safe here, including leaving my car in the well-lit parking lot, and the on-site owners were very vigilant. The hotel was right off the highway and cost about half as much as nearby places, which left me an extra 60 dollars for my antique-ing budget. I'd stay here again. I'm a mid 50's, upper middle-class white woman who was traveling alone across the country for a family wedding. I just needed a place to get off the road and sleep a few hours. This was by far the cheapest hotel nearby, and many of the other guests didn't look like me. The dated furnishings and decor were what I'd expect for the price, but they didn't affect my stay. My room, the lobby, and the breakfast area were all extremely clean and in good repair. The room was quiet and comfortable, with new carpet and good-quality towels and bedding.
