Quality Inn Decatur

We jumped straight into the jacuzzi after unpacking, and I’m still surprised by how nice this room was. The hot tub was huge and fit four people. The room also had a king bed, mini fridge, microwave, tub and shower combo, desk and chair, an armchair, and five lamps. There was even a nightlight by the sink, so no need to switch on the main light for a midnight bathroom trip. They use a water treatment system that keeps your skin from drying out, too. Honestly, this was the nicest Quality Inn room I’ve stayed in, and I travel a lot. It was better than the timeshare we had in Florida the week before. The pool wasn’t open, but I didn’t mind. Staff were friendly, and the self-serve breakfast had bagels, oatmeal, yogurt, juice, coffee, fruit, and my favorite, waffles. I’d definitely stay here again when I’m in Decatur.

After a scary mess at another place nearby, my daughter and I arrived here close to midnight, exhausted and frightened. The young man at Quality Inn was glad to help us, and we felt reassured parking right beneath one of the security cameras in the lot. We stayed two nights, and everything was very clean. The beds and pillows were cozy, and the morning coffee was great. We don't usually eat breakfast, but appreciated having apples. Thank you to the nice young man who helped us. I was so tired I forgot his name, but we really appreciated it.

We didn't get the connecting rooms we had specifically asked for, even though we booked three months ahead. We chose this place because there weren't many options, but it was gross. The pool always seems to be out of order, the pillows had hair on them, the tub was nasty, and the AC barely worked. There was a gas leak kind of smell in the stairwell and nowhere to get water. The so-called hot breakfast was lacking, too. The staff weren't rude, but they weren't friendly either. This place needs a big upgrade soon.

The staff were pleasant and came across as nice, which I appreciated. The room was mostly clean, though they need to check their work better. There was hair still on the tub walls, and they hadn't even been rinsed properly. Breakfast was the main reason I rated it three stars: their hot options were waffles, bagels, toast, and oatmeal, with only two kinds of cereal.
