Scottish Inn Decatur

The room was spacious and affordable, and I felt safe since I didn't hear any neighbors. The staff greeted me warmly. It's on the main road, close to Chili's, Starbucks, and other fast food places. The room could use some maintenance, so I left the hotel a note about it. I'd stay again.

I put my mother up here for nine days while she was visiting, and the rooms were dirty. After walking barefoot on the carpet, her feet turned black. They had hot water problems too, like other people have mentioned. The old TV had a grainy cable picture, and breakfast was poor, stale cereal and bad coffee, though the waffle maker was decent. There aren't coffee machines in the rooms. The only washer and dryer serve the whole hotel, sit outside, and are beat up. It's also right by a busy highway, so it's noisy.

When I tried to switch weekends after accidentally booking the wrong one, the host said they couldn't accommodate me. I canceled and then rebooked the same place at the same price. The room smelled of smoke and was nasty. There wasn't a chair to sit in, the TV picture was all static, and the pillows were awful. Just a bad experience.

It was no trouble that I arrived late, and the staff were welcoming and attentive. The inside felt more comfortable and cheerful than the day before, and the outside looked prettier too. I did find the fake flowers in the lobby a disappointing creative choice. Thanks, Scottish Inn.
