We tried to make the best of the weekend since we'd paid so much, but we were very disappointed and will never stay here again. My husband and I had golfed here the year before and were excited to come back to the resort for a getaway. The room was underwhelming, with dated 80s decor and a mossy smell. There were no chairs on the patio, so they had to bring some from an empty room. Then our key wouldn't let us back in, and we had to walk around to the main room door. We were told the dead bolt must be on, but we tested it and that wasn't the problem. The bathroom sink was chipping, splashing water around when the faucet ran. Black gunk came out of the disgusting jetted tub. The calcified rainfall shower head had broken holes, sending water every which way. Worst of all, we found blood stains on the comforter the first night. The front desk got bedding from another unoccupied room, but its comforter had a stain too, either dried dirt or paint. We didn't ask for another blanket because we were worried we'd get another dirty one, so my husband went to Walmart down the street and bought a comforter. We paid about $200 a night for a couples getaway. The discounted golf coupon they gave us wasn't much use either, because Golf Now app had a price $30 cheaper, so we booked through the app instead.

We had a fun, multi-generation vacation close to home on a quiet lake, with all the amenities. The suite was big enough for meals and games together, and we enjoyed renting a pontoon and raft as well as using both the indoor and outdoor pools. Lake Lawn Resort lives up to its long history as a family getaway. It was a joy to spend time there with our kids and grandkids.

We rented a pontoon, ate at 1878, and played golf at Majestic Oaks for my Dad's 80th birthday. LLR was a pleasant place to celebrate, with plenty to do, lovely historic grounds, and updated rooms and buildings. The birthday cake from their bakery was wonderful, and the wait staff were friendly, patient, attentive, and lovely. Golf was great except they double-booked our 12 tee times and squeezed us onto the back 9 without a discount. We still finished in surprisingly good time, though we were waiting on the group ahead despite staff letting others split us up and play through. Maybe that's typical stuffy, prissy golf course behavior, but we'd booked well in advance, paid full price despite their system's mistake, and had to put up with what seemed like cocky regulars.

The spa is nice, but the spa front desk staff seemed more interested in their phones and weren't dressed professionally. Watch out for the 20% gratuity at the spa. The rooms are very basic and short on details. There wasn't enough creamer or sugar, and while the china mugs were nice, there was no way to clean and dry them without using the towels. We stayed two nights and didn't get a room refresh. Bathroom supplies were sparse too, with no Q-tips, cotton rounds, or makeup remover wipes.

The boat tour was such a fun way to learn about the environment. The ride was very smooth, and the narrator was knowledgeable, full of fun facts, relaxed, easy to hear, and funny. He interacted well with everyone. The other staff were attentive and friendly too. We didn't stay in a room, so I can't rate that. The lakefront is set up beautifully. There was a wedding setup, golfers out, people relaxing and visiting on the patios, and paved paths winding along the shoreline. The grounds were very well manicured. We'll definitely be back. It felt like an experience, not just a place.
