Days Inn by Wyndham Deming

We needed a stop on our road trip where my fiancé could work remotely using an Ethernet connection, and after calling several places I found this Days Inn. Patrick answered my questions on the phone and said we could connect in the room or lobby. We arrived around five A.M., and Kim at the front desk was kind and helpful, getting us keys and letting us know breakfast would be served soon. Later we met Angelina and other staff, who were just as welcoming. Everyone was lovely, and we had a great stay.

I couldn't get my apnea machine plugged in near the bed, since the only outlet I could use was by the air conditioner. The room was poorly kept and not clean, with broken bath faucets, a rusty tub without a safety strip, and no light over the vanity. There was an upside-down picture light, and none of the lamps gave off useful light. I also couldn't find an outlet for my sleep machine where I needed one. The front desk forgot to return my license. I'm never staying there again.

The yard work began just before 9 both mornings, so the 11 o'clock checkout didn't mean we could sleep in. Also, the two-bed rooms have twin beds, despite what the booking sites say about queens. If you know those things beforehand, it can work as a decent pit stop. Otherwise, expect an unpleasant surprise.

The bathtub was clean, but the rest of the room felt dated, with what looked like original 1970's furniture and linens. I arrived at 4 am and asked whether I could check out at noon. The woman said that was fine, then at 11:10 the front desk called to warn me I'd be charged a $35 late fee if I wasn't out by 11:30. I've had much better stays, and won't return.
