Highland Inn Denham Springs - Baton Rouge East

The family who runs this place was kind and accommodating, and the room was quiet enough for me to sleep. I was in Baton Rouge for surgery, so that mattered. The bed was comfortable, the sheets were clean, and the price was excellent. I'd stay again.

The staff changed the beeping smoke detector when I arrived. The motel was spacious, and it didn't have the bad smell you get in a lot of places.

For what the hotel is like, I think the price is way too high. It can be $68 a night, though it should be $20. The power glitches, there's no pool anymore, and the phones aren't even connected. The sheets never seem to get washed or changed, and there may be bedbugs. When I asked for a broom, they were rude, and someone even removed the sign on my door asking for maid service. Don't come unless you're willing to take a risk and waste money.

The room smelled unpleasant, and the towels were dingy. We didn't have enough of them, and the sink drained so slowly that water backed up in the bowl. The bathroom door had a big burst in it, and there was no coffee maker or supplies. The AC hadn't been turned on, and it couldn't get the room below 73 before bedtime. The exhaust fan made noise, but the bathroom was still very hot. I accidentally left a nice blouse behind, but they didn't find it in the room. The price was low, though I'd spend more to avoid the same experience.
