Holiday Hill Motor Inn

A nice, clean budget stay that pleasantly surprised me. The rooms are spacious, and though the bathrooms are dated, they're clean and well kept. Beds were comfortable, and it was quiet and close to the beach. I appreciated being able to get WiFi on the pool deck and work from my laptop there. The staff were friendly too. Across the parking lot, there's an ice cream shop, bumper cars, an arcade, and mini golf, which makes it a great family spot.

We had fun walking around after dinner, watching the kids on the bumper cars and at the arcade. Later we sat in comfortable chairs in a little area behind the ice cream stand, surrounded by flowers. I worried all the on-site attractions, including the Mill Store, might make things noisy, but that wasn't the case. The pool and pool area were very clean and nice, and the check-in and information desk staff were friendly and helpful. We'd never stayed here before. I chose it partly because the family junior suites had two double or queen beds plus a couch someone could sleep on. The room was bigger than expected, modern looking, and very clean and nice. The mattresses and other bedding were comfortable. My husband was especially glad the blinds closed well enough to keep the early morning sun from waking us. We'd definitely stay again.

I booked this place because it was convenient for something I had to do on the Cape. There was nothing stated about cancellation when I booked, and I have protection on the stay. Now, because of a family emergency that means I can't go, they're charging me for one night. That's ratchet. With phone or online service, some of these hotels on Cape Cod have staff off-site, sometimes in another country or some secretive location. Unless you're paying huge money for one of the Cape's somewhat "exclusive" resorts, it all feels ratchet. I'm done with it and headed to Maine, never again. I wouldn't suggest booking here. They'll screw you over.

I booked two nights, as confirmed by the email, but when we arrived to check in, they said we had only one because someone had called and canceled the second night. No one in my party called, so this was a surprise to all of us. Thankfully, the front desk said we hadn't been charged for night two, but they couldn't give us a room for it, which I found ridiculous. I don't understand why they didn't call our party to confirm before believing whoever supposedly called. I had to scramble to find somewhere else to stay. Management communicated poorly, and after being screwed over, I wouldn't stay here again.
