Residence Inn by Marriott Denver City Center

For my family of five, the room had plenty of space, a small kitchen, and a full-size fridge. The bathrooms and gym were clean, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast is free, with hot, cold, and healthy choices. It isn't the tastiest, but it's convenient. The hotel is well placed for the things we wanted to do, and downtown felt cleaner than others we've visited around the US. Scooter parking right beside the hotel was a fun, easy way for the family to get around. The garage is convenient, though the turn is sharp and parking costs extra, as you'd expect downtown. I like Residence Inns, and this is a budget-friendly one. Recommend.

We'd stay here again. The location made getting around the city easy: the free bus on 16th street is two blocks away and gets you to union station in a few minutes, or it's about a 10-minute walk. Staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was pretty good, with a slightly different hot option each day.

The location worked for what we needed, and the kitchen and appliances were sufficient. But the hotel felt mediocre overall and overdue for maintenance and updates. The carpets are worn, the bathrooms dated, and the closet bypass doors were off their tracks. Our two-bedroom suite had a dining table that only fit two, and the workspace was just a desk in a window nook. The front desk was unfriendly at check-in, then no one was available for 10 minutes when I went to check out. Breakfast was uninteresting, mostly packaged and processed food. It's adequate if you only need the basics, but I wish we'd spent a few dollars more at the Renaissance Hotel.

The lack of clear information really soured the stay. No one told us at check-in that room service had to be requested in advance or arranged at checkout, which guests staying several nights should know upfront. The website still lists a daily parking fee, but at the desk I was told Marriott no longer provides daily parking and that I had to scan a QR code and pay separately at a higher rate. That lack of transparency was disappointing. Arriving was frustrating too. There was nowhere available to park for check-in, and the area in front of the hotel was a mess, with very few spaces and cars parked illegally. Even after I parked where I thought Residence Inn guests should, it was unclear where to enter. The entrance I found needed a room key, and a paper notice told guests to call a number for access. Later, when I tried the main doors and used the buzzer, nobody answered, so I had to wait for another guest to leave before I could get in. The parking confusion, access problems, and poor communication made for a frustrating experience. Anyone staying here should know about the limited access, confusing parking, and need to request room service ahead of time. I hope the hotel improves how it communicates with guests.
