Rodeway Inn & Suites

The room was fairly clean and the beds were very comfortable, but several things didn't work: a lamp, the TV remote, the alarm clock, and the hair dryer. Both key cards stopped working four times during our two-night stay, through no fault of ours, and the front desk didn't seem concerned or surprised. The woman there was strictly professional, not very friendly or talkative. The hotel was easy to find, visible from the Interstate, and in a decent neighborhood. But the doors to the parking lot never locked, even at 1am. They had card readers, but the doors stayed unlocked.

We won't stay here again. The music from the bar next door, which is connected to the motel, was so loud it felt like we were trying to sleep on a dance floor. It went on until almost 3am. The front desk hadn't warned us about the noise, and the window looked out onto the bar's back door. They also didn't explain where to park, and there were very few choices in a confusing lot. Our non-smoking room reeked of smoke. The screen had been taken out of the window and left on the ground outside. At a glance the room looked clean, but closer inspection showed otherwise. It was in poor repair, some walls were unfinished, and the door only had a slide bolt instead of a regular lock. The security door into the hallway was broken and opened freely.

We had booked two rooms for four nights, but the problems weren't fixed, so we checked out early after two. We'd asked whether we could leave early if things weren't corrected and were told yes. Later we were told there would be no refund because the rooms had already been rented again, and to call back to speak with management. The staff were rude and unprofessional. We arrived at midnight to a horrible smell in the entryway. In the first room, the light switch did nothing because there was no bulb, and I reached into the open socket trying to turn on the light. The AC stopped working after a while and made a horrible noise when it ran, and the room smelled awful. We spoke with management several times over the three days and were told these issues would be corrected, but they weren't. We were told it was a three-star hotel.

This was the worst motel experience I've had, and I'd give zero stars if I could. The room had a terrible smell, the AC heater motor sounded like it was going out, and the cold water faucet didn't even have a knob. The lobby smelled like cat piss too. Staff were rude or seemed not to care about customers, so their attitude made it impossible to look past the problems in the room.
