We spent four days at the property and never needed to leave. There are plenty of restaurants around the grounds, with choices for everyone, and the views and hotel itself are lovely. The service was the best part. We were welcomed warmly by everyone, from the front desk and housekeeping to the restaurant teams. The restaurant and central bar manager seemed to be on site around the clock. He was personable, treated his staff kindly, and seemed to take a hands-on approach that helped deliver such good service. I think he was originally from Austin Texas, though I’m sorry I didn’t get his name. At the Starbucks and gift shop upstairs, Josiah Buchanan and Terrace both stood out. They were genuinely friendly, cared about their work, and made an effort to give guests a great experience. We rarely encounter hospitality this good. There’s so much to do here that you really have to see it for yourself. We had a wonderful time and will be back.

The spa was the one part of our conference stay at the Gaylord that felt worth the cost. Its amenities made the experience memorable, and the adults-only hot tub was a nice touch. The indoor pool area had noticeably dirty floors, though that’s understandable with so many guests and kids around. The rest left us disappointed. Mobile check-in didn’t work, and we were meant to get a tax-exempt rate because of our conference. The manager who was supposed to help stopped replying to my husband, which was really frustrating. Prices across the resort were very high. A $24 Old Fashioned used the cheapest rye, and the food was ordinary for what it cost. We’ve eaten better meals off-site for half as much, with much better service from the waitstaff. For these prices, we expected excellent service, presentation, and care, and that wasn’t what we got. We’ve had better value and attention at lower-end hotels, so the hype feels undeserved. We won’t stay again and would tell others to look for another resort.

The restrooms stayed spotless and smelled freshly cleaned the whole time, which really made an impression on me. The gym was another pleasant surprise. It was clean and welcoming, with a fresh scent that reminded me of a spa. The lobby is grand and beautiful, but I felt it could use the same attention to scent as those other spaces. Carrying that clean, inviting feel into the lobby would lift the experience even more. I had a wonderful stay at The Gaylord of the Rockies.

There’s a great range of places to eat right on site, from Italian to buffets and sports bars. The pools are another big plus, both indoor and outdoor, and we swam every day we were there without a single complaint. I’ve stayed a couple of times, and it’s one of my favorite places in the world. Best resort ever!

The ice sculptures were incredible, and the whole Ice experience was really neat. They give you a parka since it gets chilly, and you can take your time going through it. I especially liked the ice slide. Mrs. Claus and Snowflake’s show was very cute, with cookies and milk to enjoy while you watch. The man playing Snowflake did a great job, and Mrs. Claus was good too. Sunshine was professional, sweet, and helpful, while Kymbal was an absolute angel. After the experience, there’s a little village inside where you can get hot chocolate and shop. They also have special Build-A-Bears, indoor snow tubing, and other fun things. The property is gorgeous, with incredible views and lovely artwork in the lobby. We came for the ice event and Mrs. Claus show, and I’d definitely recommend checking them out if you get the chance. Ten out of ten.
