Staybridge Suites Denver-Central Park by IHG

The hotel is well placed if you need to be in Commerce City. We stayed one night in January in a suite with separate sleeping and sitting areas, and the room itself was quite nice. The air conditioning was the problem. It was 78°F when we came in, even though the thermostat was set to 68°F. Since it was winter, we could cool it by opening the windows, though they only opened two inches. I wouldn't want to stay here in summer.

We often stop here before heading into the mountains so we don't have to drive at night. It's right off I-70, in a good area with nearby food, shopping, and gas, which makes it a decent Denver stopover. The rooms have enough space for a family of four, and having a separate bedroom and living area is nice. Breakfast is better than the usual Holiday Inn food from IHG.

I left feeling stressed and disrespected by the manager at this hotel in Central Park Denver. I asked to see a receipt or a breakdown of the fees, taxes, and other charges before paying. Instead of answering calmly, he became argumentative and defensive. He accused me of yelling, saying I shouldn't speak to people that way and that he knew I was going through a lot. I had been calm, and only got upset after he falsely accused and talked down to me. Another man behind me saw the exchange. I just wanted to know what would be charged to my card before authorizing payment, which seemed like a normal request. After arguing, the manager finally showed me something similar on his screen, and I thanked him because that was all I'd asked for. It left me feeling judged, as though he assumed I was asking because I didn't have money rather than wanting clear information. The next day, he again said I'd been yelling when I hadn't. Later, when he told me I had to leave, I calmly asked if I could get a late checkout. As a Diamond member, I asked about staying until 2 p.m., or 1 p.m. if that was possible. He didn't check availability or try to accommodate me, and immediately said, “no, upon availability,” in a rude, dismissive way. Policies exist, but guests, especially loyal members, should be spoken to respectfully. The manager came across as hostile and lacking in customer service skills.

They upgraded me to a large room for free, and there was tons of space. The location was fantastic. I've never seen a hotel with a soda machine at breakfast. I'd stay again, 10/10.
