Whale Cove Inn

The bathtub on the balcony was really nice, and the robes were comfy. I wish I could call this place home. We saw whales with the binoculars the hotel provided, though it took patience. The shower was amazing too.

The grounds are beautiful, right by the ocean, with stunning photo spots. That's about where the good parts end for us. We didn't eat at the restaurant, so I can't comment on it. Check-in was fine and they explained the dos and don'ts, but the parking lot is tiny. With a bigger rig like ours, parking can be a challenge. Our room was very dated. The furniture looked like it was from the 90s and showed its wear. There was plenty of space, including a separate bedroom area and a large bathroom and shower, but the carpet beside the bed was dirty and stained. The mattress was too soft for us, and so were the pillows, though that's personal preference. Each signature suite has a “Private outdoor tub,” but it didn't feel private at all. I was in it before 9 PM when a group leaving the restaurant came out to take pictures. Two men stared right at me, and one even waved at my husband when he confronted him about gawking. Am I supposed to get in the tub with clothes on? Frosted glass on the balconies would help give guests privacy from people below. We paid $575 for one night, which is a tad much for what you get. The property desperately needs updating. Please put some of those outrageous charges back into the grounds. We won't return.

I'd honestly put this at about 4.5. We didn't get the room we originally booked, though they did their best to help. It was bigger but had less of a view. For the price, they could've communicated the mistake or offered compensation. Good thing we only stayed a short time. We'd consider coming back.

The private balcony has breathtaking views, and the location is secluded enough to feel private while still close to plenty of amenities. We didn't see any whales, unfortunately, but that's a good excuse to come back!
