Fairfield Inn & Suites Des Moines Airport

Rain fell all night, and a leak kept tapping on the ceiling in room 314 on the top floor. It was clearly coming from the roof, and I got no sleep. I spoke to the employee at 3am, and he tried to move me, but there wasn’t another room with two beds available. He was kind and seemed to feel bad. It’s hard to believe the hotel didn’t already know about the problem.

The room was very clean, and I was glad to get daily maid service, the first time I’d had that at a hotel since Covid. The maid did knock before we had checked out, though. We enjoyed the hot tub one evening and had the pool area to ourselves. There was some noise, but nothing out of the ordinary for a hotel. The free breakfast was quite good. The front desk staff were downright surly.

The room was pretty dark, and getting the curtains arranged for enough privacy was a real challenge. Still, I’m totally impressed by how well run this motel is. Everything was clean and working, and the staff went out of their way to help us. Judy, who handles breakfast, was more helpful than I could’ve expected.

Really friendly staff and great facilities. Judy made breakfast great, thank you!
