Shinola Hotel

Bree and Lucy were friendly and helpful when we checked in at Shinola, and their recommendations for things to do during our visit were great. It was our first stay, and we loved it. The location is fantastic, and our room was clean and spacious. Everyone we passed greeted us with a warm smile. We'd definitely come back.

I could relax, eat, listen to good music, and shop without leaving the hotel. Everyone was pleasant from check-in through check-out, and Danielle made the stay especially memorable. What a phenomenal experience. This should definitely be called a 5 star hotel.

Check-in was easy, and they offered champagne or water. I felt welcomed, and the service was enjoyable. Room service was great, too. The gym was nice, with bottled water and a stairmaster, and they provided robes and slippers as an added bonus. The rooms were beautifully decorated. This is one of the swankiest hotels I've visited in a while, with a resort feel right in the heart of downtown. There are shops and restaurants you can walk to, though I didn't go far since it was freezing and snowing during my visit. The hotel seemed to get very busy at times, probably because it's listed as a fine hotel and resort for Amex, which is how I booked, and seems to be part of the Chase program as well. I'd definitely return to Detroit and stay here again.

Tanya at the front desk and Samuel, who led our watch lending program experience, were amazing. We had a great dinner at the restaurant, picked up a nice bag from the brand store, and slept in a really comfortable bed. The hideout suite felt like a luxe downtown apartment. It's 10/10 all the way around, and we'll stay here again next time we're in Detroit.
