The North lodge had everything our group of 11 needed to be comfortable, and the owner was great to work with. It was easy to reach from Denver, where our family had flown in from all over the country. The mountain views stretch all around. We started mornings with coffee on the front porch and ended evenings with drinks on the side or back porches, watching the sunset. There was a lot to do. Some of us rented kayaks for the lake while others took the kids on a scenic downhill bike ride from Vail pass through Copper back to Frisco. The bikes were well worth it, and the rock patio along the route has a cool story. We also went rafting on the Blue, mostly class 3 at the time and just right for the kids, and hiked a trail only a three minute drive from the lodge. The kids loved it. We spent other days exploring old mining areas and off road trails, then relaxed in the hot tub and grilled on the back deck. We ate in Breckenridge and tried Silverthorne spots including White Lion for breakfast and Windy City Pizza and Nick n’ Willy’s for pizza. There are lots of restaurants in Frisco, Breckenridge, and Sivlerthorne, all close together, plus outdoor companies for mountain biking, zip lining, rafting with AVA, and off road trips. We also walked around Breckenridge and its river walks while some of our group shopped. The kids were so busy exploring that their electronics barely got used. It was a great family week, though there wasn’t enough time for everything in the area. We plan to return.

We had a great time at this cozy, clean, homey lodge. There was plenty of room for a big group, and we liked the TV, hot tub, and pool table. Frisco, Breckenridge, and several ski hills are close. Highly recommend.
Summit Peaks Lodge sits on Buffalo mountain in Silverthorne, in a terrific spot for skiing in winter and hiking in summer. I’ve been coming for years and plan to keep coming. There are thousands of hiking trails and around half a dozen ski resorts only minutes away, including Keystone, A-Basin, Copper, Vail, Beaver Creek, and Breckenridge. The price for that kind of access is hard to beat. Best place to stay in Summit County.
The Summit Peaks South Lodge gave us a comfortable, welcoming stay this weekend. They were very accommodating. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic Colorado experience.
Bradford, our family booked both the North and South lodges in August 2017 for a ski week from December 26 to January 2. I had a contract with you since August, and the arrival date was clear, but your managers, Billy and Christina, apparently thought we were coming on December 27. When we arrived on the 26th, they were living in the South Lodge and hadn’t realized our rental had begun. They had to move out, make beds, and try to clean both lodges while we waited. After traveling more than 12 hours, the lodge was nowhere near ready, and it looked like it hadn’t been properly cleaned in months. I found dust, cobwebs, candy wrappers, and food crumbs between a basement bed and the wall heater. There were also holes and dents in the walls. The downstairs beds on the first and second floors weren’t made. The driveway hadn’t been plowed, two cars got stuck and had to be towed, and my truck got stuck too. The walkways and steps were icy and untreated. I slipped and fell on the wooden walkway to Sue’s unit. A dresser in the master bedroom wasn’t secured to the wall. It tipped onto me and hit the nightstand, and the drawers fell on me. The kitchen floor, grout, cabinets, dishes, pans, pots, silverware, and cookie sheets were dirty. We had to wash everything before use and clean and sanitize the kitchen. There was dust on top of the refrigerator and the lamps, and dirt and grime in corners, heater vents, and along the wood molding. There was no toaster or hot pads, the refrigerator’s ice and water makers weren’t hooked up, and the room where the managers lived had no sink plug. I had to ask the managers several times for basic items and for clean sheets for the pullout couches. One hide-a-bed had no mattress, and the other was broken. Sue’s unit had a dishwasher, but mine, unit #231, did not. You told me in August, when I asked about the online reviews, that I wouldn’t be disappointed. Instead, you overpromised and underdelivered. You offered two nights of future credit, but I don’t accept that. I want compensation for one full night for the stress and problems caused by the wrong check-in date and the unready, dirty unit. If you don’t make this right, we’ll seek legal compensation. I’m also disappointed by how poorly the reservation was managed, and would not stay at this or another property owned by Bradford again. Samantha Ericksen also described finding dust mites, cobwebs, multiple candy wrappers, and food crumbs when her glasses fell behind a bed in the South Lodge basement bedroom. She said the property’s condition did not match what the owner had promised. Susan Ericksen said the family booked both lodges for the week long ski vacation and felt the property was rated far too highly given what happened on arrival.
