Oneway Brunswick

I found this pet-friendly, affordable place while trying to get away from a Florida hurricane. It was convenient, clean, and the rooms looked nice. Most important to me, there were no roaches or bed bugs. The staff were friendly and helpful, and it felt safe and quiet at night. I didn't go there for vacation, so I can't speak to the area or sightseeing, but there were local stores and restaurants nearby, plus a local park where I took my dog and I-95. I can recommend it and would stay again.

Room 118, the handicap room, smelled awful. The carpet was wet across the whole room, and even the tile floor was damp. It was terribly humid, with mold growing in the room, inside the air conditioner, and visibly on the curtain by the AC. The bathroom reeked of urine, and its wet floor had gross splatters that might have been urine or mold. The shower was disgusting, with slimy flooring and rusty orange gunk on the support bars that looked like they were never washed. It felt like nobody had cleaned the bathroom. I could hardly breathe, got congested and sick with a sore throat, and tied a pillowcase around my face. I have a chronic illness, and mold exposure is one of the most dangerous things for my condition. I couldn't sleep until 3 AM; the mold felt like it was attacking my brain and nerves, and my head and eyes ached badly. Breakfast was frustrating too. The breakfast lady was incredibly slow, saw that things were empty but didn't refill them right away, so I had to wait until I finished eating for her to bring out eggs. The manager was friendly, but needs to get staff to clean every nook and cranny, dehumidify rooms, dry the carpet, and deodorize them. The pool apparently hasn't worked for an entire year, according to reviews, so it makes no sense that the carpet was sopping wet. It needs to be gutted; tile that can be mopped would help reduce mold and mildew. The curtains need replacing too. It didn't look renovated at all, unlike the photos in reviews. The hotel was only a quarter full, so I don't understand why they couldn't keep up with cleaning. I've worked at the exact same hotel at another location, where I did a superb job keeping rooms very clean and getting breakfast out quickly. We paid $151 at the desk, then I saw the next morning on the webpage that rooms were $75. I can't believe they ripped us off so badly. I wouldn't recommend staying unless management cleans the place up, guts the moldy carpet, and puts in laminate flooring so mold doesn't grow again. I'll add photos.

It wasn't the worst stay, but it wasn't the best either. The place looked recently remodeled, and it was very close to a gas station, places to eat, and the highway. We booked online ahead of time for one night after a long drive, then had to pay extra at the front desk. No one had mentioned the additional $75 deposit until afterward. In the morning, I was told the night staff were new and that I'd get back what I'd overpaid. I'm still working on getting that.

The website photos are deceiving. The bathroom floor wasn't clean, the toilet seat was broken, and part of the bathroom had no working light. At check-in, the clerk said breakfast probably wouldn't be served because they were out of everything. She tore a scrap of paper to write down the Wi-Fi code since she had no office supplies. On our second day, the room hadn't been cleaned, and neither the floor nor the light nor the toilet seat had been fixed. We were charged a $50 fee, and the clerk said it could take 7-14 days to get it back. After having to sit on a broken toilet seat, they should have paid me $50. Very disappointing. I won't recommend or return to this motel.
