Comfort Inn & Suites Dothan East

We were in town for a funeral, then needed to extend our stay because of a family emergency. The front desk staff were especially friendly and helpful about making the extension work. The morning breakfast bar was good, hot, and plentiful, and I liked that staff made people sanitize their hands first. It’s a great spot, near the hospital and lots of places to eat.

The room was gross: a rusty lamp, dirty walls, eyelashes and curly hairs, chewed straws and trash behind the mattress, plus an elevator that reeked of who knows what. The woman at the front desk was extremely polite and professional, and I appreciated how understanding and respectful she was. She gave us a refund without any fuss.

The service has been fine and the staff are polite, but I’ve barely slept. The pillows are a quarter of the usual size and the mattresses feel like rocks. There are strange marks all over the walls, and I’m not about to investigate whether they’re stains or something else. The floors clearly hadn’t been cleaned, with actual trash everywhere. One comforter and the curtains also have marks that look like fecal stains. The curtains that work don’t block much light. There’s a darker set too, but they’re fixed open. I may try tying them partly shut for another hour. With better cleaning and curtains, this place could have been fantastic.

The employees were nice and helpful, and breakfast was always great. Check-in took 15 minutes, though, and the room walls were a little dirty. The shower head looked as if it had been dropped into a local restaurant’s grease trap. I’d stay again.
