Embassy Suites by Hilton Los Angeles Downey

Breakfast was the one good part. Our room was extremely dirty, and the bathroom plumbing was awful. Both the sink and tub drained slowly, so we were washing in dirty water. We asked for service, but the problem wasn't fixed, and no one offered another room. I was nervous about moving anyway because a family had bedbugs in their room. The manager said we'd get credit for two nights over the inconvenience, then stopped responding to my emails when the credit never came. Please avoid this hotel and spend a little more somewhere nicer.

The neighbors kept fighting through the night. We heard furniture moving, a woman yelling loudly and then crying. I reported it to the front desk, but the noise continued until 5:30 am. Earlier, around 9:30 pm, I left the pool area because another family was blasting music, not watching their little ones, and the kids were jumping around and playing with the handicap chair. The jacuzzi didn't work, the pool had no towels, and staff never brought any after I asked. The mom was vaping, so I went back to my room and notified the desk about the chaos. At breakfast, I showed my card when asked while ordering an omelette, which was fine, but I was the only person in line asked for it. We're a Hilton Honors family and this was our first visit to this location. We booked two rooms at nearly $300 each. I'll never stay here again. Come on, Hilton, do better.

The staff were friendly, professional, and helpful, which was the one saving grace. The rooms were another story: dingy in places and plainly dirty in others, with soiled, tattered furniture. They keep the lighting dim, so you might miss how bad it is. If you're a germaphobe, I wouldn't recommend it. It felt like roadside motel quality at Embassy Suite prices, which really annoyed me. I swear I saw an actual booger stuck to the wall by the bed, but look at the picture and judge for yourself.

I stayed here 10 months ago and came back because that visit was decent. This time the place had really gone downhill. The room was worn out: the door between the living and bedroom areas stuck, and the toilet paper holder, vanity outlet, and a reading lamp beside one bed were broken. I also couldn't check in online because the hotel was hosting a party and was short-staffed. Guests smoked pot, and there were marijuana smells inside every night. I know the hotel can't control every choice a guest makes, but it could address that and other guests' unruliness. Unattended kids ran around our floor and even doorbell-ditched our room. Once I got a digital key, it wouldn't work because the internet signal was terrible. Staff never greeted us or checked how the stay was going, something Hilton hotels usually do. I'm going to the Downey theatre in two months and will stay with Marriott instead.
