Hampton Inn & Suites Duluth North Mn

The room was bland, the bed lousy, the pillows thin, and breakfast looked nasty. I stayed one night free on points as a Hilton Diamond member, and it reminded me why I used those points to zero out my Hilton account and stick with Marriott. I'd have been upset if I'd paid cash.

We stayed Friday and Saturday, and after being out all day Saturday, we came back to find housekeeping hadn't even entered our room. I raised it that day and was told the manager would be informed. At checkout I brought it up again and got shrugged off. Why pay the same rate if I have to do housekeeping's job after a day out?

I've stayed at this location a couple of times and will probably return. It's affordable, near plenty of restaurants and shopping, and has a pretty good hot breakfast included. Rooms are spacious, and staff have always been helpful. I've had a few room issues, like an outlet going out for the mini fridge and microwave, but staff responded.

Customer service was excellent and really the best part of our stay. The location was hard to beat, close to Duluth's main areas and plenty of nearby amenities. The facility feels tired and needs care and updates, though the staff are doing their best. Our room felt a bit dingy and not entirely clean, with a noticeable pet odor. The couch upholstery could use steam cleaning, and the bed was quite uncomfortable, like the mattress needed rotating or replacing. If you have allergies, I'd choose somewhere else. Breakfast was average and notable. The stay was decent, but the price felt steep for the hotel's condition.
