The Inn on Lake Superior

The lake view, Canal Park location, and the sound of the water and seagulls were the best parts. It was also very quiet, and the bed was comfortable. I liked the soaps and lotions, which felt high-end and smelled amazing, and the cozy fall decorations in the lobby. But for the money, I expected more. The hotel and rooms were quite dated, and breakfast was disappointing. I’m gluten-free and found very little I could eat, though the waffles smelled incredible. I appreciated the egg options and the hot, delicious coffee. I’d stay again with my expectations in check, since you’re paying for the location and the hotel could use an update.

Emails and calls either went unanswered or took a long time to get a reply. I felt like I had to keep chasing down information instead of getting proactive, helpful communication from staff. At the price they charge, I expected better communication and basic customer service from The Inn on Lake Superior. You can find a hotel that values your time and communicates clearly before and during your stay. I’d spend my money elsewhere.

This is a nice, mainstream hotel. Our lake-view king rooms were very large and had the usual in-room amenities. There are indoor and outdoor pools, and in the evening they provide a fire for roasting marshmallows with free s’mores supplies. The breakfast buffet was okay and did the job, though it wasn’t fancy. There’s no restaurant for lunch or dinner and no room service, but lots of nearby places to eat.

We had a great visit during Bentleyville. The lake view was nice, and the kids loved the pool, though we didn’t get to the outdoor one. They also had fun roasting marshmallows out back. We plan to come back next year.
