Black Walnut Inn & Vineyard

The views of Mount Hood and Mount Jefferson were breathtaking, and the whole place had a peaceful feel in the heart of wine country. Breakfast was a highlight, fresh farm-to-table food made with care. Susan at the cellar made us delicious drinks, too. The Grange feels luxurious but still warm, with lovely spots to read or talk with other guests. From the start, Ryan and Rochelle made us feel at home with their kind, accommodating welcome. The hospitality was so personal it felt like staying with friends. Everything was top notch. This is absolutely the place to stay.

After a day of tastings, I stopped in for a snack and a glass. The servers were quick and great. My smash burger was substantial and cooked well, and the truffle fries were good. The Blanc de Blanc was nicely chilled. If you don't love cheese, I'd skip the burger's cheese since there's plenty of it. The property looked spectacular from what I could see, so I'll have to come back and get the full experience.

Cocktails on the patio beside their "speakeasy" bar, with vineyard views, were a highlight. They made the moment even better by surprising my wife with a custom birthday dessert. Nick (the GM) and his team treated us so personally that we felt like the only guests there. Black Walnut has a peaceful atmosphere, a stunning setting, and service on a world-class level. It's intimate enough to feel like your own retreat. We've stayed at remarkable places all over the world, including The Allison, which is undeniably beautiful, but the personalized service and setting here were in a class of their own. We got exactly the reset we wanted and will be back.

We stayed in the new Grange Estates on the upper side of the property, in a beautiful room that felt both cozy and luxurious. I slept incredibly well and need to know what pillows they use. The views were incredible, and the whole property felt peaceful and beautifully done. Staff were amazing through check-in, the tour, the front desk, and checking out the downstairs bar, which had an incredible menu. We ate dinner at the Jory at the Allison and were really disappointed, and wished we'd stayed on the property for dinner instead. Wear closed-toed shoes to walk around, and try to see the adorable pigs. We left early, so can't comment on breakfast; we'll have to come back and try it. Everything felt top quality and tasteful. We're already looking forward to returning.
