The valet crew were fantastic, friendly, and welcoming every time we came and went. They gave us great suggestions for food around town and made us feel looked after. The restaurant staff and food were also excellent, a real bright spot. We were excited about our first visit, but the property felt overwhelmingly busy. We hadn’t been told that three weddings were happening that weekend, and the non-guest traffic added to the crowds. Check-in took about 40 minutes because of a fire situation. We understand that can happen, but with everything else it made for a rough start. There was no room to stand or order a drink on the rooftop. We got drinks downstairs and sat on an open couch, then a photographer asked us to move for wedding photos. We were told it would take “5 minutes,” but it took much longer. The property is beautiful and has potential. Better communication about big events would help guests know what to expect.

For anyone who enjoys historic hotels, this could be a good fit. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, more like small bedrooms, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. We could walk downtown either along the sidewalk by the water or on the walking path, and the location was perfect. The restaurant was good for the meal we had there, though the pool disappointed us. It would be helpful to have golf carts for rent and bikes guests can use without an app and credit card. The app rarely works and is difficult to use. We enjoyed our stay, but I do think it’s overpriced for what you get.

My wife and I love this hotel’s jazz age theme, so it’s a great place for an anniversary or another special occasion. There’s a wonderful location, good restaurants, and a bar. It can also be pleasantly uncrowded when other places are busy. It could be a nice choice for a wedding or honeymoon too.

We arrived at 2:30pm, knowing check-in was at 4pm. I only wanted to do the check-in process and come back later, not get into the room early. Sheyla, the manager, said my room wouldn’t be ready until 4:30pm because the previous guest had a 4pm checkout as a status member. With my 11-month-old crying and needing a nap later, I asked if we could have a different room at 4pm. Sheyla didn’t handle it professionally. I’d paid for a room with a 4pm check-in, but it felt like my money mattered less than the status member’s late checkout. She offered a $50 credit, but all I wanted was the room I’d paid for.
