Hyatt Place Garden City

The gym and pool are nice, and the rooms are nice, too. The front desk staff were very efficient. But basic comforts seem to have been forgotten here. It feels like they're charging extra for things that are standard at other hotels, and only care about the bottom line. There's a huge wraparound lot with plenty of spaces, yet parking costs $10 a night. The Hampton Inn next door is the same size and has a similar lot, but parking is free. They removed microwaves from the rooms and charge more for a suite that has one. The only microwave left is on an inconveniently placed ledge in the lobby, so each time I wanted to eat, I had to go from the sixth floor down and carry my food back up. They say some microwaves are stored for guests to use, but my coworker and I, in separate rooms, both asked for one and were denied. I also heard another guest in the hallway ask and get turned down. I wanted cash to leave for housekeeping, but there's no ATM in the lobby. The Hampton Inn next door has one. I thought we were getting a special treat by staying at Hyatt Place after the Hampton Inn had only one room left when I tried to book on Monday. I was wrong.

I stayed for three days, and the location was hard to beat, across from Whole Foods and other retail outlets. The rooms were spacious, immaculate, and top notch. You can tell the hotel is managed extremely well: all the team members smiled and seemed happy. Thanks to Sharise and all the genuinely courteous staff. I'll definitely be back.

The people are what made this place stand out for me. They were welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. The breakfast bar was handy and had a great variety, too. Rooms were clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed. It has everything a traveler could want, and I'd absolutely recommend staying here.

The staff are nice and attentive, but the rooms are horrible. The furniture is dated, and the wood is deteriorated, scraped up, and visibly water-damaged. My room was unclean, with dirty curtains. I'm still here and can't wait to leave. I texted about the problem and only got AI responses, with no help.
