Holiday Inn Express & Suites Chattanooga East Ridge

The room had a broken, unusable foldout couch bed, a cracked bathroom sink, and a tub floor that felt dirty and uneven. The shower head didn’t work well and was dirty. We also heard a lot of street traffic and hallway noise. The pool was small, and the water felt dirty. I got a rash on my leg after only a few minutes in it, so I had to get out. We’d booked ahead while traveling through to Florida. The front desk girl wasn’t friendly or accommodating when we asked for extra towels, and things got worse from there. They gave us a foldout bed and 500 points, but that didn’t feel equal to what we paid for and got. Two of our kids slept poorly because the couch bed was broken. I don’t recommend this hotel.

There was a blood spot on the duvet, and the hallway carpet was very dirty and stained. The place is outdated and needs a remodel. The elevator was extremely slow and clunky, and I had to jiggle the bathroom light switch to turn it on. Front desk staff were mediocre at best. When they asked if I needed blankets for the sofa bed, they asked who all was staying in my room. There were no streaming services on the TV. The parking lot backs up to houses, and a free range dog barked at us while we unloaded. I wouldn’t stay again.

There are lots of good restaurants and coffee shops nearby. “State of Confusion” and “Frothy Monkey” were top choices for me. The rooms were nice and clean, and the staff were kind and helpful. Breakfast was decent for a medium stay hotel. The coffee bar sometimes needed cleaning and attention, but overall the hotel was quite clean and nice. The parking lot is small, so spaces can get scarce.

I connected my laptop to the TV with an HDMI cable and asked the front desk lady how to change the input. I’ve done this at five other holiday inn Express locations in the south. She raised her voice in frustration and said changing the inputs back was annoying, so they’d programmed the TVs so the inputs can never be changed. I wouldn’t have left a review if she’d shown even a little kindness or customer service.
