Syracuse Inn

We checked in and were out again within minutes. The room smelled strongly of rot and cigarette smoke. Looking around, we saw stains on the mattress, mattress pad, walls, furniture, and floor, along with damage to the flooring and bedding. It looked like the room hadn't been properly cleaned or maintained for quite a while, and we weren't comfortable staying there. We got a full refund, but this wasn't an acceptable hotel room. Check yours carefully before unpacking.

Ravi, the manager, was the worst part for me. He spoke to guests in a condescending, dismissive way, as if he were above them. In my experience, he was especially disrespectful toward women and people he seemed to judge for needing to stay there. Hospitality doesn't seem to be his business. I didn't feel secure because the door barely worked. The room was filthy, and the sheets had stains and odors that made it feel like they hadn't been cleaned between guests. In the bathroom, the shower had visible mold and grime and badly needed new caulking. The hallways were dirty and poorly kept too. It felt unsanitary and neglected, with no care or accountability. The whole experience was hostile and demoralizing. Save yourself the stress and discomfort, and possible health issues. There are much better places in Syracuse. Don't stay here.

The breakfast area had become storage for construction supplies, so there was no breakfast while we were there. The hotel was being remodeled and was pretty messy. The door latch seemed unreliable and the door wouldn't close all the way, even though it locked. There seems to be a weekly rate, and on both nights we came through the rear lot, a few sketchy guys were partying there. They didn't threaten or harass us, but made inappropriate “positive” comments.

The mattress felt like sleeping right on the springs, and the whole place smelled of cigarette smoke, towels in our non-smoking room included. Closing the room door took my full weight. It looked like it had been broken into at some point, and even shut, there was a big gap underneath. The bathroom door wouldn't stay closed because its frame was broken and the latch wouldn't catch. We stayed one night and nearly didn't make it through. For about the same price, we could've found somewhere much nicer.
