Super 8 by Wyndham Eastland

We’d requested a non-smoking room, but the room on the back side definitely smelled like someone had smoked in it. They said it was their last room and couldn’t move us, but they kindly canceled the reservation without a penalty.

I’ve never been in a dirtier room. The pillows and blankets smelled bad and were stained, the TV didn’t work, and there was trash in the bathtub. The bed felt like it might have bugs, and when I went to pour milk into my cereal, a bug came out. I’ll never stay here again. I’d rather sleep in my car.

Being right off the expressway made the location convenient, though it could get very loud. We liked having a great Mexican restaurant next door so we could eat without driving anywhere. The outside looked questionable, but the remodeled room was a pleasant surprise, with a comfortable bed and soft towels. The AC technically worked, but it didn’t blow cold air. It was chilly outside, so we could tolerate it. When I told the guy in the office at checkout, he just said, “yeah we have heard that before,” then basically brushed off the concern. He needs customer service lessons. Even so, the stay was very positive overall.

I honestly don’t know how this place gets anything but one star, and I don’t even want to give it that. Don’t listen to the fake five-star reviews. This was the worst motel I’ve stayed in, and absolutely disgusting. The towels were dirty, there was mildew and a horrible stench in the room, and the pillowcases and sheets were dirty. The water stank and was barely warm. None of the supposed amenities worked. I don’t know how Windham approves this place. Travelers, don’t stay here. Pay the extra 30 or 40 bucks and go somewhere else.
