Econo Lodge

This has been the best place I’ve stayed so far.

It’s good value, and I’d stay again. The room was clean and well located, with restaurants a short walk away and no need to cross the highway. Getting from the parking lot to the room was easy, which made bringing luggage inside convenient.

We’ve stayed here overnight on the way to and from the beach for the past few years, and the owners remember us each time. They’re very nice. Once I left a towel in the room, and they mailed it to me. I paid the shipping, but they made the effort. There are plenty of nearby places to eat: several chains within two miles, and McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Burger King, Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Baskin-Robbins, DQ, Taco Bell, KFC, Arby’s, Popeye’s, Wawa, Denny’s, and Hardee’s right by the motel. There are also a few local places and a pizza place, though we haven’t tried them. Watch out for speed traps. It’s an Econo Lodge, so it’s basic and I don’t expect much. People who complain about budget motel quality should pay more and stay at the Hampton Inn. It was clean enough for an overnight, and we were exhausted: I passed out, woke up, showered, and got back on the road.

The front desk staff were courteous, and the complimentary breakfast was nice. The room, though, was horrendous. I was there for a quick overnight business trip and wasn’t expecting much, but the condition still surprised me. There were flies, used shampoo and conditioner bottles, mold, stained sheets, no bulbs in the fixtures, and no chain lock on the door. Literally the worst place I’ve ever stayed.
