Emerald Best Motel Edmonds

There were bed bugs all over the place. When I told management, they didn’t seem surprised, which made me think they already knew and didn’t care. They basically said they could move me to another room or I could contact Expedia for a refund, as though this were normal. No wonder the prices are so low. Stay away.

I just needed somewhere decent to sleep for a night, and this motel did the job. Nothing was the best, but I wasn’t expecting a nice hotel, and it met my expectations. Other guests can affect your stay, but I lucked out and slept hard without any problems. I’d stay again if I needed to. It was the cheapest room I could find in town and still wasn’t bad. The WiFi worked well, the shower got hot, and I didn’t wake up with bed bug bites. They supplied soap and shampoo/conditioner, and nearby food and restaurants were convenient. I had no complaints. The $100 deposit was more than the room itself, but I got it all back.

The location was great, the people at check-in were sweet, and the renovations looked good. But I left disappointed after being charged $30 for a towel. I’d spilled a little coffee on the floor and wiped it up myself instead of calling the front desk for help. Apparently that was a mistake. There’s no way a thin white motel towel, lower quality than a $5 Walmart towel, costs $30. I would have been fine with $10, but this felt like I was being gouged for trying to leave the room clean. I could have left the coffee to dry and avoided the charge.

The room was clean and tidy, and it stayed quiet despite being right by the highway. The water got nice and hot, and the gentleman who checked me in was helpful and courteous. I found the bed so hard that I kept waking up and thinking I was on the floor. The kitchenette had a few things, but no spoon, fork, or butter knife. I should’ve checked before going to Winco. The parking directions could have been clearer.
