Sunset Motel

I booked a room a day ahead, then got a call at 11:30 the next day saying my credit card had been declined. When I offered another card, they said the room had gone to someone else and tried to sell me a different one at a higher price. Within five minutes, I booked another motel with the same card and it went through fine. They nearly ruined my Memorial Day vacation. Very bad experience.

For four years, my husband, child, and I have stayed at this motel when visiting A.C., and we always ask for the same room. It’s neat, has a fridge and microwave, and doesn’t smell of cigarettes. There’s a Wawa and McDonald's nearby, and the drive into A.C. is nice without all the traffic. If you need an affordable, quiet, tidy room to rest after the busy boardwalk, this is a good place to stay.

We spent my boyfriend’s birthday weekend here and ended up sleeping in the car because we were afraid of bedbugs. The room door wouldn’t lock, there were bugs and cigarette burns in the blanket, and the toilet barely worked and wouldn’t flush properly. The air conditioning took hours to cool the room, and the fridge didn’t keep drinks cold. There was no ashtray in the room, and the soda machine was nearly sold out, so we had to drive to a gas station for drinks. The front desk was very rude and yelled at us for taking too much ice. We didn’t see the pool that was listed. I was very unhappy and disappointed. We overpaid, and it was a waste of my money and time.

This was probably the most disgusting motel I’ve stayed in. There were flies and black widows everywhere, and the bathrooms were filthy. You even had to remove the toilet tank lid to flush. The bathroom door looked as if it had been punched a couple of times. Don’t stay here, no matter how tempting the low prices seem.
