The Halfway House Motel

We arrived without any check-in instructions, went into the restaurant, and got a snarky “we’re closed.” After we finally worked out that we weren’t there to eat, some man yelled our door code to us. The room was upstairs on the second floor, with no heat on while it was in the 40s. The baseboard heater took several hours to warm it up. The bathroom rugs were dirty, there were no pillows on the bed, and the carpet tiles were just loose on the floor. There were pillows on the shelf by the door, but they were dirty and there were no pillowcases around. I don’t understand the great reviews. This place could be nice with just a little customer service, but they give the impression they really don’t care. We won’t be back.

The place was nice and clean, and I especially liked the deep tub and fantastic view. The Wi-Fi code didn’t work.

There are large flies in the rooms, almost like something has died, and it seems housekeeping hasn’t been done in over a month. The Wi-Fi cuts in and out and barely works. Worst of all, there’s often no hot water. It’s not worth the money. Don’t stay here.

The patio looked spacious and like a great place to unwind on a milder evening, though we didn’t check it out because it was 0 F outside. Inside, there was plenty of wood, and the fixtures had a modern but rustic look. The room matched the website description and was beautifully decorated, with a deep, comfortable tub for baths or showers. We had a small radiator issue, but the owner was friendly, communicative, and helped sort it out later in the evening. I hope to return soon. Highly recommend.
