Red Roof Inn Elkhart

Under the mattresses we found drugs, including meth and marijuana. That was disturbing and completely unacceptable in a place renting rooms to the public. There was also a strong weed smell from other guests’ rooms across the property and around our room, which made the place seem poorly managed from the start. Multiple drug users were hanging around nearby, and the suspicious activity made us feel unsafe. The location is rough and didn’t feel secure, especially late at night. Cleanliness and safety are the basics, and this motel failed on both. One of the worst motel stays I’ve had. If your safety and peace of mind matter to you, I’d stay somewhere else.

We’d stay again. Red Roof Inn was affordable, the rooms were clean, and the pillows were comfortable. It’s close to restaurants, and Amy at the front desk was friendly and helpful.

We walked into a lingering smell of cigarettes and pee, with dead flies everywhere and live cockroaches too. The bathroom handle was sticky, not sure why, and the door wouldn’t lock all the way. There were toenails in the mattress. Great stay otherwise, if you value your health and safety, avoid this godforsaken place.

We stayed for a week, and it was terrible. Our first room had bed bugs, but thankfully the front desk moved us right away. I’d never dealt with bed bugs before and was shaken up. I didn’t inspect the replacement room when we moved, then later found poop under one of its beds. The room was supposedly cleaned by Elizabeth, and there was hair in the shower too.
