We stayed for a week, and the place was filthy. I cleaned the room as best I could, but there were ants, silverfish, and a roach. We had to bring our own towels and toilet paper, and my kids’ feet turned black from walking on the floor. My autistic toddler is lightning fast and opened a drawer with an old Yoo-hoo drink spilled inside. She got to it before I could stop her and took a sip. There was also some sticky mystery substance beside one of the beds. Outside was just as bad, with clutter and trash everywhere and most of the posts by the rooms broken. It seemed like many rooms were occupied by people living there, and we didn’t feel safe. Our door lock was broken, which was especially bad with an autistic toddler who’s always trying to get out. It often smelled of Marijuana. On our last night, we heard what sounded like a gunshot, then a stranger knocked on our door. We didn’t answer, and someone yelled at her outside for a while. The next morning, as we were getting ready to leave, the person in the next room threatened to hurt my husband, or have his guys do it, because of the noise our toddler made running around. We left quickly. Never again.
