Candlewood Suites Enid by IHG

The staff made this three-day, two-night visit a great one. The two lovely women working mornings and evenings were especially helpful, and the housekeepers we met were pleasant too. I was in town with my fiancé to visit family. We usually choose Holiday Inns or avids for a one-night stop, but this longer stay worked out perfectly. Next time we’re in Enid, this will be our first choice.

It was a good place for a quick night, and the room was clean enough. The bed could’ve been a bit more comfortable, though. Looking back, I might’ve spent the extra money to stay at the Hilton down the road.

I booked a night for a crew working in Enid and then didn’t need it. I understand that policy is policy and that I couldn’t get reimbursed for the cancellation. IHG suggested I call and ask whether a room could be comped. Once I reached the manager, she confirmed the cancellation policy and stood her ground. She wouldn’t comp a room for my company. We have a team coming back this week and will be doing more work in the area, but Candlewood won’t get our business. I spent over 25 years in hospitality, and I think this manager, and anyone who handles it the same way, needs retraining or should be moved out of that position. In standing her ground, she’s cost the company more money than she can realize. Ignorance at its best.

A bed bug was crawling on the bedspread, and I found several bites on my arm after it started burning shortly after I got to the room. I had to throw away all the clothes I was traveling with so I wouldn’t risk bringing bed bugs home. The front desk kindly canceled the rest of my stay, but the response didn’t seem apologetic or even surprised. A full week later, management still hadn’t followed up despite five attempts to reach them. Bed bugs and no customer service are a bad combination. I strongly advise keeping on driving.
