The check-in employee was friendly, but after that the stay was a letdown. I picked the hotel for its location just off the highway and my membership status, and had booked because breakfast was meant to be included. At check-in, the front desk confirmed it started at 6:30 a.m. In the morning, another employee said there was no breakfast and it wasn’t included. I’d waited for something that wasn’t there, which was the last disappointment. The building is old and badly outdated, with stained hallways and musty-smelling elevators. My worn room smelled strongly of cigarettes despite being designated non-smoking. The tub looked dirty and poorly maintained, and the lighting was too dim for me to feel comfortable using it. I’ll be in town later this month, but I won’t stay here again.

I’ve stayed here about six times over the past couple of years, and I don’t have any real complaints. It’s a handy halfway stop between home and Illinois, and it’s usually clean and well kept. Some rooms feel more worn than others, while a few seem so bare they could use a couch or table. Otherwise, it’s fine.

The room was dated, and we had to ask for a chair to be brought in. Staff were friendly, but the room arrangements were a problem: we had specifically requested a roll-in shower and were given a bathtub. We waited 30 minutes in the wrong room before someone brought a key to another room next door. Even then, we had to make do with a shower that wasn’t accessible because they couldn’t meet our needs. The front desk offered one free breakfast coupon to make up for it. We were a group of three and explained that one coupon wouldn’t cover us, so it felt like an empty gesture. We didn’t use it. The room worked for one night’s sleep, but the stay was disappointing.

The room was beside employee offices and the laundry area, across from a staff smoking exit. Smoke odors and late night talking and laughter kept us from resting. The room and hallways were visibly dirty, and we found several maintenance and safety problems, including a toilet that didn’t work and a broken shower handle. The whole hotel felt dated and poorly cared for. When we tried to get help, staff kept saying only the General Manager could assist. The GM was unavailable, either off site or in meetings, so nothing got resolved. We made several attempts to escalate this and still haven’t received action or meaningful follow-up. This fell below even modest expectations. I strongly discourage families or anyone who expects a clean, maintained place from staying here.
