Escondido Inn

This is a great little motel, close enough to easily reach homes and restaurants around Escondido. I’ve stayed here about 35 times and absolutely love it. The rooms are modern, clean, and well furnished, and the people are wonderful, attentive, and always friendly. It’s a real gem, highly recommended.

We drove into Escondido for a kids’ event and checked in at 1 a.m. without any trouble. It cost about $90, which wasn’t bad for a place to crash for the night. The parking lot was clean and empty. You can hear some traffic, but it wasn’t too much. The galaxy night light was cool and the kids loved it; the murals were neat too. The room smelled clean, and we had no problems overnight.

I was furious. I’d booked through Air BnB and arrived exhausted after a 14-hour flight. The manager/owner sprang a $100 deposit on me on top of the listed price, then said he could return it the next day if I paid cash. I did. I checked in around 3 p.m., slept from about 3:30 to 6, and woke up feeling like something was crawling all over me. My hands were the only part really exposed, and they had bites. I stripped and showered, then checked the bed because I thought they might be mosquito or bed bug bites. It was infested with bed bugs. I took photos and videos and went downstairs to tell the manager. AJAY, the rude manager, got angry and blamed me. I only wanted to move rooms if possible, not get a refund, but he said there was nothing available and told me to contact Air BnB. He also said he was keeping my deposit because he had to clean the bed bugs. I said there was no way I’d brought them in and infested the mattress in less than three hours. He just left me in the room. I called Air BnB. They apologized, asked me to send what I’d seen, and said he was violating their terms by asking for the deposit at all. After finding another place, I returned with my things and asked AJAY if he was really keeping my $100. He said yes. I told him Air BnB said he shouldn’t have charged it, but if he felt fine keeping it, I couldn’t do anything about it. He said he was fine with it. I walked away, and then he had the nerve to ask for the key. I refused and flipped him off. He’s the lowest kind of person, and he’ll have to answer to someone for this. I believe in karma, and I think his will come sooner or later.

I love staying at Escondido inn. It’s clean, and I love the artwork on the walls and the stars that appear when you turn off the light. It helps you relax and forget about stress or anxiety. The bed is great to sleep in, too.
